3 Secrets to Shopping for Kitchen Furniture

Are you having a hard time searching for furniture for your kitchen? If you see yourself nodding to this question, thankfully, you're not alone in this. I have to admit, looking for bargains involving cabinets, dining tables and chairs and kitchenware is really hard, especially if you're a first time homeowner. When this happens, you should turn to the experts – your fellow homeowners.

When I did so, I learned a lot of things, from buying the right furniture to learning how to maintain them. A lot of women have gone online hoping to get responses and also to share their own experiences.

Going back, what I discovered from these ladies is that, even if kitchen furniture is expensive, there are ways in order to buy these at lower prices. Here are some of the things I learned:

1.Sometimes, malls and stores actually have seasonal sales. For example, shopping during Thanksgiving or Independence Day weekend will give you a lot of sales. The only con here is that, you might have to elbow a bit of people. Since sales are rampant during this time, you will have to face a bit of shopping competition. If you can handle it, then you're sure to find a lot.

2.Seasonal sales are wonderful but it doesn't mean that department stores won't lower their prices from time to time. Take for example Target. This store has a lot of wonderful products. If you take the time to find printable Target coupons, you'll be able to purchase items, even cabinets and drawers, without spending full price. Just go online to find out which stores are having these sales.

3.Because it can be a hassle to go from store to store, you can just stay home and shop there. What do I mean? Don't disregard the idea of online shopping. This way you can scan through all sorts of pieces for your kitchen without having to stand up. You can just separate each store with tabs. The best part about this isn't the tabs or the convenience but the prices. Usually, shopping by the browser gives lower priced products. You may also try to find coupon codes to make prices even lower.

Those are secrets to shopping for kitchen furniture. There are many tips but in my experience, these three have been the most helpful. Good luck!

Granite and Other Natural Stones - Which Material is Best for Your Home?

Contrary to popular belief, I don’t have a ‘favoritism’ for granite tiles. It’s just that I found that this is very practical. Nonetheless, my home still used other types of tiles such as marble and limestone tiles. Although I am a fan of kitchen granite countertops, here are other stones you can use and why they’re also amazing.
  1. Marble – Next to granite, marble is a very good choice. I don’t really advise you to use it in the kitchen because it’s not as durable as granite. However, you can use it in rooms where there is not much activity. Marble has the tendency to scratch easily and to be stained. Apart from this, it is very beautiful and can be used in your bedroom or living room.
  2. Limestone – Limestone is actually a good choice for living room countertops and walls. Just like marble and granite, it has a very elegant appearance and numerous designs/patterns/colors. Yet, just like marble, it is prone to scratch marks and stains. Think carefully where you want to put it.
  3. Quartz – Quartz are usually manmade or engineered. I am not really familiar with this but I have heard good and bad reviews about it. They say that it is similar to granite. If I were you, I’d do more research.
  4. Faux Granite – Some people prioritize the beauty of homes but don’t have the budget. Faux granite countertops will be helpful. Although they look like granite, they aren’t really made from the natural stone. Some of them are made from wood, plastic or other sorts of materials. The downside is that, these don’t have the same durability and quality as the previous stones.
Hopefully, this short list of natural stones will help you learn more about what kind of stones to use in your home. There are a ton of sites online that may be able to provide you with other helpful information.

It is widely known that granite is a very useful material in the kitchen. Because of its functional properties, as well as its ‘financial’ advantages, it can actually be used elsewhere.

  2. Bathroom – Like I’ve been mentioning in other blog posts, granite can be very useful in bathrooms. With the everyday use, it will surely need something strong. Granite can be a good part of your bathrooms. It can withstand everything – water, oil, dust and other types of chemicals.
  3. Living Rooms – You can uses granite tiles on your fire places. Even with the flames and the smokes, the granite will not get damaged. In fact, whether you burn or hit it, it will not chip or crack easily. It truly is a very durable material.
  4. Gardens – If you’re one of those people who hangs out in your garden, you should consider having a kitchen island table. You can actually customize the design and use granite tiles for the surface. You’ll find that this can be a great addition to your lawn.
  5. Walls and Floors – Although people don’t think that it’s possible, granite can be a very good choice for walls and floors. As mentioned before, it’s very low maintenance. It will take more than a few hits or stains to destroy it and its beauty. Of course, because it’s very pricey, you have to choose where to put it. Crowding your home with too much of granite can also be an eyesore. Ask for advice if you wish.
