Granite and Other Natural Stones - Which Material is Best for Your Home?

Contrary to popular belief, I don’t have a ‘favoritism’ for granite tiles. It’s just that I found that this is very practical. Nonetheless, my home still used other types of tiles such as marble and limestone tiles. Although I am a fan of kitchen granite countertops, here are other stones you can use and why they’re also amazing.
  1. Marble – Next to granite, marble is a very good choice. I don’t really advise you to use it in the kitchen because it’s not as durable as granite. However, you can use it in rooms where there is not much activity. Marble has the tendency to scratch easily and to be stained. Apart from this, it is very beautiful and can be used in your bedroom or living room.
  2. Limestone – Limestone is actually a good choice for living room countertops and walls. Just like marble and granite, it has a very elegant appearance and numerous designs/patterns/colors. Yet, just like marble, it is prone to scratch marks and stains. Think carefully where you want to put it.
  3. Quartz – Quartz are usually manmade or engineered. I am not really familiar with this but I have heard good and bad reviews about it. They say that it is similar to granite. If I were you, I’d do more research.
  4. Faux Granite – Some people prioritize the beauty of homes but don’t have the budget. Faux granite countertops will be helpful. Although they look like granite, they aren’t really made from the natural stone. Some of them are made from wood, plastic or other sorts of materials. The downside is that, these don’t have the same durability and quality as the previous stones.
Hopefully, this short list of natural stones will help you learn more about what kind of stones to use in your home. There are a ton of sites online that may be able to provide you with other helpful information.
